C De Solla Agencies (CDS) is founded as a general trading company.
1st delivery of equipment to the Western Cape wine industry.
The alcoholic beverage industry became the core focus.
Peter Peck, a qualified winemaker, acquired equity (and to this day acts as director).
Market leadership in the supply of bottling line equipment achieved (and to this day maintained for external bottle washers, capsuling equipment, labellers etc).
Relocation from Cape Town to the heart of the Cape Winelands (Paarl) took place.
Market leadership in supply of secondary processing equipment for bottle fermented sparkling wine achieved (and to this day maintained).
100 years later and still going strong!
CDS merged with a competitor and CDSVINTEC was formed. The focus on wine processing & bottling is broadened to include spirits, beer, juice, water & cider.
Market leadership in supplying wine chemicals to the South African bottle fermented sparkling wines industry is achieved (and to this day maintained).
Market leadership in supplying mechanical grape sorting solutions achieved (and to this day maintained).
Market leadership in supplying mobile bottling (& labelling) solutions achieved (and to this day maintained).
Major changes in shareholding took place. Paul Boutinot (UK based wine business entrepreneur and founder of one of the largest privately-owned wine businesses in the UK), and Jean du Toit, (previously the MD of various wine industry companies) purchases the company. Peter Peck remains a shareholder and business partner.
Heinrich Engelbrecht appointed as Technical Director and becomes a shareholder.
Filtration & separation solutions became a major focus with the establishment of a separate filtration division (CDS LiquiSep), in collaboration with a business partner.
